15 Glorious Years Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015

About Lakme Fashion Week

Lakmé Fashion Week (LFW) is jointly organized by Lakmé, the No.1 cosmetics and beauty services brand in India and IMG Reliance, the global leader in sports and entertainment event marketing and management. LFW has been conceived and created with a vision to “Redefine the future of fashion and Integrate India into the global fashion world”. LFW is organized twice every year.

15 Glorious Years

Looking back, it’s rather difficult to believe that fashion weeks in India are 15 years old. I remember the time when there were few scattered individual shows done by India’s fashion designers that were more like social gatherings over drinks and dinner than commercial events that they are today.

Lakme fashion Week has been a mentor and launch pad to many such design talents who have carved their mark internationally. Since 2000, the platform has been the forerunner in redefining fashion and integrating India onto the global fashion map.

This prestigious platform unveiled a stellar line-up of 100 participating designers and 13 sponsors, who showcased their collection from the Aug  26 to 30 at Palladium Hotel in Mumbai.

The forthcoming season witnessed the perfect blend of upcoming talent and industry’s most established names to set an unparalleled benchmark in fashion diversity and creativity.

Amazing Shows Amazing LFW

Lakme Fashion Week 2015 is here with ace designers of India showcasing their winter collection at the Mehboob Studio, Mumbai. The event kick-started on 26 August and saw several Bollywood stars as showstoppers.

Ranbir Kapoor turns showstopper for Manish Malhotra

Manish Malhotra ended the day's event by introducing the first ever menswear show named 'The Gentlemen's Club' at LFW 2015. Actor Ranbir Kapoor turned showstopper for the designer, whose creation was a mix of modern style blended with the traditional sherwani, bandhgala and ethnic jacket.

Structured suits and textured trench coats were the highlight of the show with velvet remaining a staple in all his outfits. His creation paid a homage to the time-honoured silhouettes such as sherwani, bandhgala and band jacket. The Parisian prints on the bandi jacket were intriguing. Also the gold botanical motifs on the jackets jazzed up the creation.

Talking about his collection, the designer said, "The Gentlemen’s Club is very special to me as it marks the commencement of a new journey for a decade-old label. This new collection is for the confident, impeccably groomed man who likes to mix it up – a modern perspective blended with rich Indian tradition."

Malaika Arora Khan Turns A Hot Bride For Designer Arpita Mehta

Malaika stunned the ramp wearing a mirror-work lehenga which consisted of an off-shoulder blouse and a fish-cut lehenga skirt. We love the thigh high slit lehenga which adds appeal to the bridal look. She walked for Arpita Mehta and glittered all the way through the runway! Malaika wore a heavily worked lehenga which was just amazing!
