Five Fashion Inspirations from Fashion Week 2019

As someone who has been in the business of fashion and jewellery for a while now, I always have an eye on the Fashion Week ramp for ideas and inspiration. The recently concluded Lakme Fashion Week will be long remembered for putting the spotlight on men’s fashion and its unabashed celebration of drama and creative silhouettes.

Men’s fashion has for the longest time been only about wedding sherwanis or formal suits. It was refreshing to see out-of-the-box ideas for silhouettes, some twists to classic pieces, an ode to sustainability with a flair for drama.

Ideas and concepts that go a long way in shaping our design philosophy at Voylla, as we work our upcoming line of jewellery and accessories for men.

#1 Quirky Cuts, Structured Looks

Popular designer to the stars, Kunal Rawal dressed Arjun Kapoor while Amit Aggarwal had Hardik Pandya as his muse. What was common to both these designers with an exciting fashion philosophy, is their take on edgy menswear.

Structured jackets, asymmetrical silhouettes and layered looks are giving some interesting fashion goals to aspire to.

#2 Sneakers Rule

This fashion trend has only gotten bigger since the time it first took baby steps into our wardrobes. If women are wearing sneakers with just about everything and anything, men too have upped the ante when it comes to statement sneakers.

Pairing sneakers with kurtas and formal suits seems to work quite well in this season of unpredictability.

#3 Gleam and Glitter

You needn’t smirk at men who love to sparkle. This festive season bling goes chic with the way designers are adding a bit of glitter and metallic gleam to detail cuffs and jackets and overlays.

Subtle enough not to make you look as though you have jumped out of the 80s’ film poster, it oozes enough glamour to put you in the spotlight.

#4 Earthy Fashion

Fashion returns to its roots this season, with sustainability being the buzzword everywhere. Traditional techniques such as bandhani or shibori, handwoven fabrics that breathe, silhouettes – Dhoti pants, dungarees, hoodie jackets, khadi shorts, easy draped shirts that are relaxed, easy – everything to make you feel connected to your roots is the best fashion statement that you can make this year.

#5 Fun with Kurtas

Farhan Akhtr - Lakme Fashion Week 2019

Designers are not done yet giving the kurta some interesting looks, prints and cuts. Payal Singha;’s printed kurta gave Farhan Akhtar a very funky yet elegant look.

We are excited to see how this continues to the festive season when vivid colours, quirky prints and patterns take over our wardrobe.
