There are plenty of muscled stars out there in tinsel town. They have inspired people of all ages to get in shape. Gyms are abuzz with activity thanks to the great bodies of these actors that have inspired people with a ‘can-do’ attitude.
Many Bollywood actors used supplements for muscle growth. Here are some of these Bollywood actors who have a workout at the gym and churned out a fitness revolution.
1. Salman Khan
He has spawned a generation of fitness-crazy actors and also got the Indian youth to take to fitness. Who can forget his ‘take-of-the-shirt’ antics in every other film? His well-chiseled torso is still the talk of the town. Here are some of his fitness tips.
Warm-ups for half an hour that includes squats and push-ups. Before the workout, he has breakfast with 4 egg whites, pre-workout protein shake, and a post-workout protein bar. It has a vegetarian lunch that includes chapattis and salad but has a non-vegetarian dinner that has chicken and fish.
2. Hrithik Roshan
Ever since his bulging biceps wowed everybody in Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, Hrithik is not just about peaked biceps, but about peak fitness. He is one of the most ripped actors around. Here’s what he does.
He does Crossfit training almost every day. It includes kickboxing, kettlebell swings, tire flips and so on. He took Saturday and Sunday off and even Wednesday! That’s a lot of rest to grow the muscles! His diet was about high-quality supplements too. Not just BCAA, he took liver detoxifiers, grape seed antioxidants, walnut shakes, Omega-3 and what not.
3. Ranveer Singh
He is not a slow-moving muscular frame. He personifies an athletic physique that is muscular, yet agile and dynamic. Ranveer Singh once said that his biggest advantage was that he did not drink.
He made extreme sacrifices to get to a ripped, lean and mean shape as was seen in Ram Leela. For many months, he ate salt-less, raw food and would go without sugar for days. He undertook something called a Drastic Transformation Programme that included one-hour cardio in the morning and one hour of weights in the evening. This meant that he achieved his goal in just two months as opposed to 6. That’s drastic!
4. Shahid Kapoor
His claim to fame as a fitness icon is that he has an innocent charming face and a rugged chiseled body. With Shahid, it’s never about the mass, but about the definition. He follows an unusual workout routine of working all parts of the body every day. In between, he swims, does yoga, runs for an hour on the treadmill, and also does martial arts. He is vegetarian and fuels his body with vegetarian sources of protein such as fruits, green vegetables, protein pancakes, beans and spinach to name a few.
5. Tiger Shroff
It helped that Tiger was a budding football player before he turned to action. He is a trained martial artist too. His workout is all about volume – each exercise has 12 sets of a max 8 repetitions and he does more than 6 exercises! That’s many many hours at the gym! He does not increase or decrease weight, he does the same weight over and over again. It works for him! He does gymnastics every other day that lends his physique perfect symmetry.
6. John Abraham
John was already into bodybuilding and modeling before he entered films. Being an ecto-mesomorph, John’s body is suited for muscle mass. His last weight scale reading was reported to be in excess of 100 kgs!
John follows classical bodybuilding that includes taking at least 200 gms of protein every day. He follows the classical bulking methodology of doing one big muscle and one small muscle on a day. An example is Chest-Triceps, Lats-Biceps, Shoulders-Calves, Rest, Abs, Legs. One distinguishing factor about him is that he never took steroids, and he always slept for 8 hours a day by going to bed by 10 PM.
